China- 2009

May in Asia - Beijing & Xian
May 15 - June 11

So, I am heading off to China very shortly and am getting really excited about all the many insightful places i'll visit.  I am hoping to detail my experiences here on this blog, and provide pictures and video of places I visit along with people I meet.  I am going to be working on gathering research for a thesis, which I will working on this upcoming year encompassing my communications degree along with my history minor.  I will be focusing on the ability for Chinese to express their belief in Christianity throughout the 2nd-half of the 20th cen. to the present day.  This will include many interviews, exploring and research.  I am excited to be able to share that information with you, as well as my exciting journey alone the way. Unfortunately, my plans of going to Tokyo following this trip have changed because of the global economic recession... which right now in Japan is causing people my age to seek jobs in the rural countryside - farming and such.  Hopefully my internet connection keeps solid over their, and that my thoughts don't get me into trouble....

T-minus 9 hours....

I am very excited to get this blog all set up, and can't wait for my adventures to begin. I am Drew, ... I am 19 years old turning the "big" 20 this year, in BEIJING, CHINA! I am originally from Laguna Hills California.. in Orange County, though was born in Honolulu, Hawaii... (probably one of the few things Obama and I have in common...) I am a Sophomore in college, attending a small private liberal arts college. I am a Rhetorical Communications major, doing a minor in History for kicks. One might ask what a Rhetorical Communications major entails... well... its preparing me to be able to construct oral messages (involving self presentation, verbal strategies, and non-verbal appeals) so I can influence specific audiences and cultures, and have the ability to interpret culture critically and charitably. I am not fully set on my career goals after college, but am excited about the possibilities the major holds. I am going to try to blog my adventures in hopes that I may be able to share my experiences with you all. I thank you for all your love and support, and am excited to see what God has instore for me. - Drew
